Our commitment to accessibility

Our team is passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, and we strive to create a more inclusive digital world for all.

Hi, I’m Michael Osborne, the driving force behind Accessible Me. My journey into the realm of accessibility began long before Accessible Me was founded. In fact, it traces back to my childhood experiences, where I encountered first-hand the challenges individuals with disabilities face in our society.

One of my earliest memories of this awareness came when I was just seven years old. My best friend, while drawing Scooby Doo, inadvertently coloured him green instead of the expected brown. It turned out he was colour blind, a condition I hadn’t fully grasped until that moment. This early encounter left a lasting impression on me, sparking a curiosity and empathy that would shape my future endeavours.

My passion for accessibility only deepened as I pursued my studies in Games Technology at university. Engaging in various Game-Jam events, I began to recognise the profound impact that design choices can have on inclusivity. Witnessing firsthand how simple adjustments, like adding descriptive colour names on Crayola pencils, could empower individuals with disabilities, fuelled my determination to make a difference.

My personal journey has been shaped by my experiences with hidden disabilities, including Tourette’s Syndrome, severe anxiety, depression, ADHD, and high-functioning autism. These experiences have not only heightened my empathy but also strengthened my resolve to advocate for inclusive practices in all aspects of life.

In 2012, my formal introduction to accessibility came during a Game Jam (a hackathon-style event), where the term resonated with me deeply. Since then, I’ve been dedicated to championing accessibility in everything I do.

At Accessible Me, we’re on a mission to create inclusive environments that empower everyone. Through our solutions and support, we empower individuals and organisations to make their content accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. With a blend of personal insight and professional expertise, we’re committed to realising our vision of a world where everyone has equal access to information and opportunities.

Join us on this journey toward a more inclusive future. Together, we can unlock the full potential of every individual, one accessible step at a time.
